Tumbleweed Tuesday.
Well the week got off to a roaring start - then came to a halt at 2pm yesterday when the site was deserted, and remained that way all day today.
The tilers decided to make an appearance yesterday but STILL haven't finished.
Out of 8 tiled areas only ONE is actually complete. TWO haven't even been started yet.
I asked the tiler when he would be finished and as usual he was cagey and told me they were there today (thanks master of the obvious), and that he had to talk to our SS about the balconies (which haven't even been started. Last drama was they couldn't do them because the balconies weren't waterproofed - what the deal is now I have no idea. What I don't understand is why on earth they left when there is still grouting to do in the kitchen, laundry, powder room, ensuite and toilet. What's the deal with taking off when they had plenty to fill up the rest of the day?
Grey hairs I tell ya!
The carpenters were there as planned and seem to have done MOST of what they can with what is on site. The replacement Tasmanian Oak Timber panels for the ceiling of the Outdoor Room are on site but haven't been installed yet and there are still a few odd doors here and there not installed - perhaps they are waiting for more?
The Master Bed Balcony still hasn't been clad/lined fully but the materials for that don't seem to be onsite either at this stage.
Today I went to Kellyville Ridge to check out the display homes again to look at a few last minute finishing touches/details, and also to lock in some more landscaping ideas.

And we have a rough completion date!
Jason spoke to our SS today and he is aiming for an end of March 'presentation', (PCI in other words), then allowing a week or two for the last of the last things to be done then its ours!
So it looks like we might just scrape it in and be moved in before Easter. Not as early as I had hoped but we are on the home stretch nonetheless.
Add to my list from yesterday - shower screens need to be fitted (they've been organised apparently), and the water tank also needs to be installed.
Thats a BIG list of things to achieve in the next 3 odd weeks - time will tell my friends, time will tell!
Still wishing I were here:
Instead of contending with my ever growing list do things to do/source and organise!
So far I have purchased or decided upon:
- Fridge (purchased)
- Bed for our son (purchased)
- 50" plasma (purchased - YEAH!)
- sons bedsides (purchased)
- washer and dryer (decided, need one week notice)
- couches for 2 living areas
Still need to organise:
- KS bed and mattress for our room
- mattress for sons room
- ENTIRE study furniture
- bedsides for our room
- coffee table for family room
- cabinetry or entertainment unit for family room
- blu ray player (x2?)
- TV for playroom/2nd downstairs living
- storage/furniture for playroom/2nd living area (couches already owned)
Among other things to do/organise for immediately after handover:
- driveway/path/retaining walls (awaiting quote)
- window coverings (quoting Monday)
- bamboo flooring (awaiting return call re: quote)
- carpet for upstairs (NO IDEA YET! eek!)
- basic landscaping to tidy the place up (awaiting quote)
- side gates to keep dogs in! (need to get quote soon)
- fit out 2 x built ins and my walk in wardrobe (need to get quotes)
- install clothesline
- outdoor room decking
- seal garage floor
- seal grout/tiles
- phone/internet/foxtel connected
- change battens to downlights
I'm tired just looking at that list!
Think I will go back to looking at the Bali photos ;)

A plague on both your houses!!!
Ok, so more like a pox..or 300..and only one house but Romeo and Juliet sprung to mind when I saw that our house has been littered with blue dots ready for touch ups..
Those of you in the late stages of building will be familiar with the plague of dots!
Unfortunately however no sign of any other work done at the house since I was there on Tuesday.
The tilers are supposed to be back this week - no sign. Carpenter needs to finish skirtings - no sign.
Other major things to be done in the home stretch include:
- Brickies need to fill hole for meter box that ended up on the other side of house
- Electricals - power points, light switches, fittings etc etc etc all need to be fitted
- Plumbing - toilets and bath fitted, taps fitted etc
- Carpenters - doors hung after painting, skirtings and architraves completed
- Painters - second coat inside, srairs and doors stained & outside needs to be finished too (drainpipes and balcony)
- Master bedroom balcony cladding to be fitted
- Garage door to be fitted
- Shelving fitted in pantry and linen cupboards (x2)
- Wardrobes fitted out (just basic hanging rail, we will fit out after handover)
- Stairs need to be installed - from garage to house and at front entry/portico
I'm sure this is loads more but thats what I can think of at the moment!

Progress pics
I had a chance to pop into the house today and was happy to see two tradies trucks out the front!
One seemed to belong to a plumber (I think?) - who was doing something on the roof above the garage when I arrived, and the other to a gyprocker who was finishing off around the window in the family room when I walked in (and smoking like a chimney which I wasn't thrilled about but I guess we can't do anything about that..).
I had a quick look around and noted the powder room window issue had been fixed, the bulk of the architraves and skirtings had been fixed, the first coat of paint applied, and powder room sinks had been fitted.
And now some pics -

So this week should see the tilers return (and I REALLY hope - finish) and aside from that I'm not sure what else to expect! Painter back perhaps? And if we are REALLY lucky? An estimated completion date!!
